Field Service Advisor - West Coast (Preferred)

The ideal candidate has an aptitude for logical problem solving and comprehends electrical & technical systems concepts. The Field Service Advisor within Energy & Charging will be responsible for the entire charging network resolving using a combination of tools and software. They should take an analytical approach to troubleshooting technical issues, be detail oriented and organized, and have the ability to work independently. Must be comfortable with frequent travel and working outdoors under little to no supervision. Most importantly, have a passion for learning & growth.
*This is a full-time paid position based at our HQ office in Mountain View, CA. While this posting is listed for SF Bay Area, CA, we are open to hiring throughout the US.
Responsibilities
- Commission vehicle charging stations, evaluating the installation, configuration, and operation of individual components and integrated systems.
- Work collaboratively with the operations and engineering teams to understand the system and installation requirements
- Design and implement cross functional initiatives that drive process improvement, services, and systems that grow team success.
- Maintain AMPLY’s electric vehicle charging network
- Respond to corrective maintenance dispatches on EVSE, commercial solar PV, and energy storage systems
- Manage and document maintenance workflow queue and collaborate in clear, concise details
- Co-Develop maintenance method(s) and procedures for equipment maintenance, repairs & commissioning
- Generate, update, track, and complete Field Service Dispatches (FSDs) within Amply’s service tracking system
- Monitor quality of internal operations to ensure world-class customer service
- Document and triage with third-party contractors as necessary providing accurate reporting.
- This role will be split between the field and the office per the requirements of operations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or Electrical Engineering, Architecture, or a related field
- 3+ years’ equivalent experience in servicing electrical power equipment in the commercial or utility energy field and/or formal electrical training
- Able to work independently and without direct supervision
- Strong electrical, electronic, and network troubleshooting skills. Technical knowledge of EV chargers, solar power installations, or other applicable power electronics is preferred, but not required.
- Ability to adhere to or exceed required OSHA safety certifications and requirements
- Familiarity related to EVSE or renewable energy systems is preferred
- Proficient working with spreadsheets, word processing, and computer-based applications (e.g. time tracking, case management, etc.)
- You thrive in fast-paced, informal, team-focused environment where constant change is the norm and the bar for quality is set high
- Proficient understanding of utility distribution systems and local site electrical infrastructure

AMPLY is redefining the EV charging market for private and public fleets, including autonomous driving fleets, transit bus agencies, municipal, and private fleets. We are building the next level of charging as a service, taking complete ownership and control of the charging infrastructure, the scheduling of the vehicles, the cloud platform, and the utility meter – in order to provide the highest availability and resilience in the market. In this way, we will accelerate the adoption of electric-powered fleets by optimizing the delivery of power and making refueling seamless and efficient. In a high-powered application like vehicle fast charging, the difference between controlled, optimally balanced vs unrestrained EV charging could be 3x in cost from your local utility. Even more importantly, EV fleets, in particular when part of critical and close to real-time business processes (for example in autonomous fleets) need to be scheduled for charging in specific time intervals. By taking control of the utility meter, optimizing EV charge rate and vehicle process flow, AMPLY provides the lowest cost of electric fueling possible in a given depot location or in-route stops. Our approach is to offer charging as a service, which is unique in the industry. We offer our customers a per mile driven usage rate. AMPLY provides the bulk of the upfront capital expenditures associated with the charging platform.
