Project Manager

AMPLY is seeking a talented Project Manager to successfully deploy and manage the development of distributed-scale and EV fleet charging projects. The Project Manager will oversee a diverse portfolio of EV charging depot projects, managing the entire project lifecycle (design, permitting, construction, commissioning), interfacing with all relevant project stakeholders (customers, contractors, permitting authorities, equipment vendors, and utilities) – ensuring on-time and on-budget installations. A successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in energy project management, the capacity to be responsible for multiple workflows, and the ability to communicate effectively with multiple stakeholder types.

Responsibilities
- Manage projects post-Sales to completion, including design, permitting, EPC contracting, construction, utility new service interconnection, commissioning, closeout, and customer acceptance tasks.
- Review design documents, confirming adherence to all required specifications.
- Interface with external vendors to review and meet electrical equipment specifications.
- Control project scope of work, preparing detailed written scope documentation for bidding EPC contractors, ensuring matching to contractual commitments while limiting change risks.
- Provide technical oversight and manage utility new service installations, adhering to the process and requirements of fleet incentive programs.
- Provide effective communication, progress reports, and status updates to all internal and external stakeholders.
- Review and document pertinent AHJ and utility requirements impacting project scope of work.
- Conduct due diligence on development-stage projects.
- Collaborate with the internal AMPLY team, external vendors, and customers to evaluate site constraints, technology options, variables impacting schedule and cost, and relevant tasks needed for successful project deployment.
- Track total project spending accurately, and measure against project budget; anticipate and communicate budget and schedule risks in advance and propose actions to mitigate.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering, energy, or environmental discipline.
- Minimum 3 - 5 years of experience in solar PV, energy storage, EV charging, or the energy industry as a project manager.
- Experience with and knowledge of utility processes, power systems, distribution, and interconnection of new service installations.
- Expertise in full life-cycle development and installation of energy projects.
- Ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously, autonomously manage multiple workstreams, and meet interim project schedule milestones.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Must be a proactive leader and be able to self-manage deadlines and tasks.
- Resourceful and strategic self-starter who can manage complex projects with limited guidance.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Proficient in MS Excel, Project, Word, and online database applications.
- Passionate about promoting electrification, renewable energy, mitigating climate change, and building an equitable and sustainable future.
- Ability and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.

AMPLY is redefining the EV charging market for private and public fleets, including autonomous driving fleets, transit bus agencies, municipal, and private fleets. We are building the next level of charging as a service, taking complete ownership and control of the charging infrastructure, the scheduling of the vehicles, the cloud platform, and the utility meter – in order to provide the highest availability and resilience in the market. In this way, we will accelerate the adoption of electric-powered fleets by optimizing the delivery of power and making refueling seamless and efficient. In a high-powered application like vehicle fast charging, the difference between controlled, optimally balanced vs unrestrained EV charging could be 3x in cost from your local utility. Even more importantly, EV fleets, in particular when part of critical and close to real-time business processes (for example in autonomous fleets) need to be scheduled for charging in specific time intervals. By taking control of the utility meter, optimizing EV charge rate and vehicle process flow, AMPLY provides the lowest cost of electric fueling possible in a given depot location or in-route stops. Our approach is to offer charging as a service, which is unique in the industry. We offer our customers a per mile driven usage rate. AMPLY provides the bulk of the upfront capital expenditures associated with the charging platform.
