Senior Frontend Engineer
AMPLY Power is a clean energy technology company going after an emerging $100B market opportunity. AMPLY deploys and operates EV chargers the way data centers operate server blades – lots of them at a time, with high efficiency, low cost, and 99.99% uptime. We serve public sector and commercial businesses with fleet vehicles – electric buses, trucks, and passenger fleets. As the Sr. Frontend Engineer at AMPLY Power, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, testing, and deployment, of a wide range of user interfaces and user experiences. You will work closely with the entire engineering team to execute on major deliverables. A commitment to teamwork, hustle, and strong communication skills (to both business and technical partners) are absolute requirements. You are an experienced front-end software engineer and a self-starter who is excited to work on cloud-scale software.
*This is a full-time paid position based at our HQ office in Mountain View, CA. While this posting is listed for SF Bay Area, CA, we are open to hiring throughout the US.
Responsibilities
- Write high-quality, performant code in a growing, fast-paced, startup environment.
- Contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle. Lead process definition and technology selection while overseeing QA/QC.
- Develop new user-facing features and be actively involved in continuously improving the platform.
- Demonstrate an instinct to write elegant and efficient code, coupled with the adaptability to improve on existing code.
- Take ownership of the overall front-end architecture and development and be comfortable leading projects to completion.
- Advanced understanding of scalable ReactJS frameworks that talk to Node JS API services.
- A solid foundation of the basics of front-end layout (CSS, HTML, JS) etc. with an emphasis on attention to detail.
- Ability to work with multiple stakeholders, to create high-fidelity functional mockups for assumption-based testing.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field required.
- 4+ or more years experience developing software in one or more modern programming languages (e.g. ReactJS/NextJS, Python, Ruby, Go, Node.js, Dart)
- Independent and can manage your own projects and time with ease, all the while setting and managing stakeholder expectations.
- Have designed and implemented software throughout its lifecycle, taking a product from napkin sketches through shipping and maintenance.
- A portfolio of (actual products) that you can share.
Preferred
- Experience with multiple JavaScript frameworks (e.g. AngularJS, React, Backbone, JQuery, etc)
- Familiarity with cloud technologies such as AWS EC2, ECS, S3, RDS
About AMPLY Power
AMPLY is redefining the EV charging market for private and public fleets, including autonomous driving fleets, transit bus agencies, municipal, and private fleets. We are building the next level of charging as a service, taking complete ownership and control of the charging infrastructure, the scheduling of the vehicles, the cloud platform, and the utility meter – in order to provide the highest availability and resilience in the market. In this way, we will accelerate the adoption of electric-powered fleets by optimizing the delivery of power and making refueling seamless and efficient. In a high-powered application like vehicle fast charging, the difference between controlled, optimally balanced vs unrestrained EV charging could be 3x in cost from your local utility. Even more importantly, EV fleets, in particular when part of critical and close to real-time business processes (for example in autonomous fleets) need to be scheduled for charging in specific time intervals. By taking control of the utility meter, optimizing EV charge rate and vehicle process flow, AMPLY provides the lowest cost of electric fueling possible in a given depot location or in-route stops. Our approach is to offer charging as a service, which is unique in the industry. We offer our customers a per mile driven usage rate. AMPLY provides the bulk of the upfront capital expenditures associated with the charging platform.
